Vanda Brady was awarded on 26 April 2019 for her exceptional achievement, effort and service in a voluntary or unpaid capacity in County Cavan and the rest of Ireland in the Social Inclusion Category. She was nominated by Philippine Honorary Consul to Ireland Raymond Garrett and awarded by Cavan County Council Chair Madeleine Argue.
Vanda is the founder of several organisations in Ireland – the Filipino Association of Cavan, the Cavan Cross Cultural Community, Outreach Ireland, and the European Network of Filipino Diaspora-Ireland. Vanda contributes to the Cavan Community through her work volunteering with the cross-community groups assisting Filipino nationals with cultural integration, basic migrant rights and multicultural participation in mainstream Cavan and the rest of Ireland.
Married to a local Cavan native, Shane Brady, she has integrated her life and strives to promote inclusion for others in everything she does, working tirelessly to break barriers and stop exclusion and promote inclusion and integration.
On March 20, 2019, the Filipino Association of Cavan was also awarded the Festivals Grant of Cavan County Council. Cavan County Council recognises the contribution that Festivals and Events make to the lives of the people of the county and this grant scheme aims to assist those events that have a tourism or community focus.
